Is he happy or angry ? - T asks: What kind of letter do you write if you feel angry about something or unhappy with something? A letter of complaint or a thank-you letter ? A letter of complaint - T asks: What is a complaint letter ? đ A complaint letter is written when someone is unhappy or dissatified with something. Have you ever written a complaint letter? Do you know how to write a complaint letter? Lead –in : Today we are going to learn how to write a letter of complaint. Ha Noi July, 12th 2002 Dear Sir, I am writing to complaint about the inconverniences we had to suffer during the holiday to Cua Lo beach from July 3rd to July 10th organized by your company. What we have experienced in the holiday was quite different from the advertisement. The jouney to Cua Lo was a disaster as the coach was old and not air-conditioned. When we arrived, our room was not ready and we had to wait in the lobby for half an hour. It took us nearly half an hour to go to swimming because the hotel nearly three kilometers from the beach. This was a package holiday and we expected to pay no further charges but we had to pay one hundred thousand dong for the laundry service. We complainted to the guide but she could not do anything about it. In short, we think that you need to apologies for the poor service of the tour and something must be done to improve it. I am not happy with it at all. 2. not all of them are native teachers. 3. that is not true. My class has over 30 students. 4. I had to pay for them. 5. only some of them. Mine is not. 6. in fact classes often start late and finish early. III. WHILE-WRITING: (15') 1.Using the information from the dialogue in Task 1, complete the letter of complaint below. (page 51) (groupwork) - Ss read through the letter of complaint on page 51 and then use the information from the dialogue to complete the letter. T goes round giving help if necessary. -T chooses some of the students' letters, ticks on the blackboard and then corrects them. *Key: The quality of the course was not as high as we expected. There were about 40 students in the class, so it was very difficult for us to practise. Sometimes we had to wait for half an hour because the room was not ready or the teacher arrived late. Sometimes we couldn’t study because the classroom was very hot. Last week we hadonly one lesson on Monday. We expected to pay no further charges but we had to pay sixty thousand dong for the books and cassettes. Wecomplained to the teachers but they couldn’t do anything about it. IV. POST-WRITING: (10' ) Put the expressions in the correct column. T goes round helping the students with vocabulary if necessary. - T asks Ss to stick the expressions in the correct column on the board. - T checks with the whole class.
