Subject and verb agreement

SUBJECT AND VERB AGREEMENT
1) Các trường hợp động từ ở dạng số ít:
 a) Đại từ bất định: everyone, something, someone, nobody, each of,.........
 ex: Each of boys (have) has a bike.
 Everybody (be) is ready.
 b) Chủ ngữ là từ chỉ số lượng về tiền, thời gian, khoảng cách, trọng lượng.
 Ex: Ten dollars is not enough for him.
 Five years is a long time.
 c) Chủ ngữ là danh từ số ít tận cùng bằng chữ “s”:
 - Danh từ chỉ về chứng bệnh: measles, numps, rickets,.........
 - Danh từ chỉ về môn học: linguistics, economics, phonetics, politices,..............
 - Danh từ riêng: algies, athens, wales,.............
 - News
 d) Chủ ngữ gồm nhiều danh từ chỉ cùng 1 người, 1 vật:
 Ex: His old friend and colleague. Tom is a good teacher.
 e) Khi chủ ngữ là một mệnh đề:
 Ex: That your girls cook well is wonderful.
2) Số nhiều:
 a) Chủ từ gồm nhiều danh từ chỉ nhiều người hay nhiều vật
 b) Danh từ 2 bộ phận: glasses, jeans, pants = trouser, scissor,..............
 c) Chủ ngữ là các đại từ: some. both, many, few,................
 d) Danh từ được thành lập bởi: The + Adj
3) Số ít hay số nhiều tuỳ tình huống:
 a) Chủ ngữ là một cụm từ ta phải dựa vào khái niệm chính để xác định.
 Ex: The first two parts of the experiment take the most time.
 b) Cấu trúc The number of + N -> dùng động từ số ít
 A number of + N -> dùng động từ số nhiều
 c) Các danh từ được liên kết bằng các từ sau đây: ...........or.....................; either...........or........; neither................nor............ -> động từ chia theo chủ từ thứ 2 (S2)
 Ex: Neither his mother nor his sisters want him to become a doctor.
 Either she or I am going to buy a new car.
 d) Danh từ tổng hợp: family, group, team, police,...........
 Ex: The family is the basic unit of our society.
 The family have gone to HCM city.
e) Theo cấu trúc: S1 + as well as + S2 + (Động từ chia theo S1)...........
 Ex: John as well as you (be) is good.
