PROCEDURE I/ Pre-speaking: 1. Warm-up: Game: Lucky Numbers (5’) T divides the class into 2 groups (A&B). There’re four pictures shown on the screen and 2 lucky numbers. T asks each group to name the pictures. Keys: 1. The Big Ben 2. Lucky Number 3. The Tower Bridge 4. The Statue of Liberty 5. Lucky Number 6. The Economic Center 2. Lead-in: (3’) T: -Well, these are the well-known places in the world. -Who knows where they are ? In which city ? Ss: (expected) in New York and London. T: Our lessons today is speaking about the comparisons between New York and London. 3. Vocabulary:(5') -A.D: The abbreviation of the years in Lord that means after Christ’s birth. → A.D (=Anno Domini) -Reserved (adj): dè dặt, kín đáo. -Transport (n): means of carriage -Convenient (adj) = suitable. 4. One read the information about New York and the other about London is Task 2 p.159. Then ask and answer questions about two aties. 3. Giving the comparisons between New York and London (7’) T asks Ss to work in groups to make the comparisons between two cities, then report them in front of the class. III/ Post speaking:(6') Telling about the cities in Vietnam T asks Ss to work in groups of a table to tell the city in Vietnam that they prefer and to give the reason why.
