 Lesson 1: READING
Aims: To help ss practise speaking skill to know about the history of World Cup.
 To leran and use some vocabulary about football.
Aids: Textbook, flipcharts.
 PROCEDURE
I/ Warmer: (5')Guessing game.
-Have ss listen to the famous song of World Cup 1998.
-Ask ss to answer the questions:
 1.What is the name of the song? (The cup of life)
 2. What is the song about? (about football / World Cup)
* Lead-in:
 Do you know any information about World Cup?
To understand more about World Cup, let’s move to the new lesson: The World Cup.
II/ Pre-reading:
1.Vocabulary:(8')
- witness(v): to see (chứng kiến)
 	(n) : the person who sees an event or something happens.( nhân chứng)
- passion(n): strong emotion, strong enthusiasm.(nỗi đam mê).
 	pasionate(adj): showing or caused by passion.( đam mê, nồng nhiệt).
- elimination game = qualifying game : the game within a region that decides which team can go to the World Cup.( trận đấu loại).
- continent(n): lục địa.
 (explanation: Asia, Europe, Africa, etc... we call them continents).
- finalist(n): the team who goes to the final match.( đội tham dự vòng chung kết)
- honoured title(n): danh hiệu cao quý.
