Aims: -To help ss use conditional sentences type 3 to express regrets.
 -To practise talking about excursion.
Aids: Textbook, flipcharts.
 PROCEDURE
I/ Warmer: Chatting (7')
- Have you ever gone on a picnic?
-What do you prepare for that trip? ( food, drinks, tent, blankets,...)
- How do you feel when going on a picnic?
Now ,let’s learn speaking lesson to know about Nga’s class’s excursion.
II/ Pre-speaking:
1.Vocabulary:(7')
-food poisoning(n):ngộ độc thức ăn.
-fine(n): cash paid as punishment (tiền phạt)
-get lost(v):unable to find way (lạc đường)
-luggage(n): hành lý
-carsick(adj): feeling sick because of the car’s movement.(say ô tô)
2.Checking: what and where.
III/ While-speaking:
1.Matching:(Task 1/p.114) (pairwork)(7')
-Have ss do the task in pairs.
-T goes around to observe or give help.
-T checks by calling on some ss to read out the sentences.(reminds ss use connector “so” to combine the two sentences).
*Answer:

2.Showing regrets:(Task 2/p.115) (groupwork)(10')
-T elicits to revise the conditional sentence type 3.
 T: How did they go to Huong pagoda? (By coach)
 What happened to them? (Most of them got carsick)
 So what would have happened to them if they hadn’t gone by coach?
 If they hadn’t gone by coach, they wouldn’t have got carsick.
*Notes:
 Conditional sentence type 3: 
a/ Form:
 If-clause + main clause
 Past perfect(had + PP) ( perfect conditional)
 would
 could + have + PP
 might
b/ Use:To talk about unreal situations in the past.
-Have ss do the task in group.
-T goes around to observe and offer help.
-Have ss compare their answers with another group.
-T calls on some ss to speak out their sentenses, then gives feedback.
* Answers:
If we had bought enough food and drink, we wouldn’t have spent a lot of money eating in expensive restaurants.
If some of us hadn’t had food poisoning,we could have enjoyed our visit.
If we had had raincoats, we wouldn’t have got wet and have had a coat.
If some of us hadn’t left our luggage on the coach when we arrived, we could have had clothes and money with us.
If we had been careful when we walking in Huong Pagoda, we wouldn’t have got lost.
If we hadn’t thrown waste in the forest, we wouldn’t have got a fine.
If we had stayed there more than one day,we could have visited all the pagoda.
