Unit 4 : SPECIAL EDUCATION
Reading comprehension
******
Aims: -To hepl Ss read silently for scanning specific information and know something more about special education.
	-To teach integrated skills, focus on reading and speaking.
Teaching aids: textbooks, pctures, charts.
Procedure:
I. Warm-up: (7') CROSSWORD GAME
- Use questions, pictures or cue to elicit words from students.

- Give good marks for good guessing words and lead to the lesson by presenting Braille.
* Lead-in: the Braille Alphabet is special education for blind, deaf and mute. 
II. Before you read: (6')
1. Activity 1 : (Pairwork)
Look at Braille Alphabet in the text book and guess which are written in a,b,c,d

2. Activity 2: (groupwork)
Look at the activities. Which ones do you think would be difficult for blind, deaf and mute children?

 III.While-reading: (10')
1. Task 1: Matching ( pair work) (page 45)
Have Ss to look at the table in their books and match words with their meanings

2. Task 2 : Mutiple choice (pair work) (page 45)
-T asks Ss to read the passage again and complete the following sentences by circling the corresponding letter A,B,C, or D.

IV.Post- reading : (10') Gap-filling ( tablegroup) (page 46)
- T asks Ss to fill each of the blanks of the summary below with a suitable word from the reading passage.

	6.time-consuming	7.maths	8.arms	9.fingers	10.proud
V.Homework:(3') Read the text and answer the following questions:
 a> What would happen to the disabled children if a special class was not orgnized for them?
 b>Why did the parents oppose the idea of sending their children to the special class at frist ?
c>In what way did Ms Thuy teach the children how to add and subtract ?
