I/ PRONUNCIATION.
- Trong tiếng anh nói, những loại từ sau đây thường nhận trọng âm: (textbook page 9)
+ Main verbs (động từ chính): lie, embroider, make, carve
+ Nouns (danh từ): craft village, river bank, painting, region, artisan
+ Adjectives (tính từ): famous
+ Adverbs (trạng từ): beautifully
+ Wh-question words (từ hỏi): what, when, how, why
+ Negative auxiliaries (phủ định): don’t, aren’t, didn’t, isn’t
- Hầu hết các đại từ (I, you, we, they, he, she, it, me, us, them, him, her) đều có dạng yếu và dạng mạnh. Thông thường chúng ta sử dụng dạng yếu. Nhưng nếu một từ mà quan trọng hay chúng ta muốn cho thấy sự đối lập thì sử dụng dạng nhấn mạnh. (textbook page 19)
- Động từ “be” không được nhấn mạnh trong trường hợp: đứng ở đầu hoặc giữa câu hỏi và câu khẳng định
(textbook page 29)
- Động từ “be” được nhấn mạnh trong các trường hợp sau:
+ Trong câu hỏi có phủ định (Aren’t you coming?)
+ Đứng cuối câu (Yes, I am)
+ Dùng để nhấn mạnh hoặc cho thấy sự tương phản. (She is coming, but she will be a little late)

+ Purpose (mục đích): so that, in order that
+ Reason (lý do): because, since, as
+ Time (thời gian): when, while, before, after, as soon as
3. Comparison of adjectives and adverbs (so sánh với tính từ và trạng từ)
- So sánh bằng: S + be/V + as + adj/adv + as + N
 S + be/V + not so/as + adj + as + N
- So sánh hơn: 
+ Tính từ ngắn: S + be + adj-er + than + N
+ Tính từ dài: S + be + more + adj + than + N
+ Trạng từ: S + V + more + adv + than + N
+ Much, a lot, a bit, a little được sử dụng để nhấn mạnh
- So sánh hơn nhất:

+ Có thể sử dụng second, third trong so sánh hơn nhất
+ Sử dụng by far để nhấn mạnh
