International Women's Day is celebrated every year on March 8th. The earliest Women’s Day was celebrated in the United States in 1909, but on February 28th. Not until 1914 did people observe the celebration on March 8th. In 1917 Soviet Union and then some other communist countries like China, Cuba started celebrating this day as a holiday for women and world peace. Since then the holiday has become more and more popular around the world and it was officially recognized as a worldwide festival in 1977.
