 Indonesia is the biggest country in South East Asia and an important member of ASEAN. It is made up of many islands in the South China Sea. In some places it is close to Singapore and Malaysia, in others it is close to Australia. 
It has a tropical climate and it has many active volcanoes some of which cause a lot of damage when they erupt. Its population is the largest of all Asian countries. It has a population of more than 185 million people and more than 90 million live on island of Java. The capital of Jakarta and other important cities include: Jog Jakarta, Median and Surabaya. Because it has so many islands it has a long coastline and very few borders. In fact its only border is on the island of Borneo between the state of Kalimantan and the Malaysia states of Sarawak and Saba.
