THE SIMPLE PAST TENSE : THè QUÁ KHỨ ĐƠN
LÍ THUYẾT
 CÁCH SỦ DỤNG: Thỡ quỏ khứ đơn dựng để diễn đạt một hành động đó xảy ra và kết thỳc trong quỏ khứ khụng kộo dài đến hiện tại. Trong cõu thường cú cỏc trạng từ chỉ về thời gian quỏ khứ rừ rệt như:
- Yesterday ( hụm qua), yesterday morning, ........
Cỏc từ cú liờn quan đến từ last như: last Monday, last week, last month, last year,...
 - Cỏc từ cú liờn quan đến từ ago như: 3 days ago, 4 weeks ago, 5 years ago, ...
 - Cỏc năm đó qua so với thời gian hiện tại: in 1975, in 2011,...
 - Từ FOR ( chỉ khoảng thời gian): for 3 days, for 3 weeks, for 3 years, .........
 I/ Đối với động từ to be: 
 Khi chuyển qua phủ định và nghi vấn chỳng ta khụng cần đến sự trợ giỳp của trợ động từ to do.
ọCấu trỳc:
S + was 
S + were 
 a/ Thể khẳng định: 	
 (subject = chủ ngữ)
 Khi chủ ngữ là ngụi thứ I là: I ( tụi) hoặc ngụi thứ III số ớt là: He, She, It 
 thỡ chỳng ta dựng was.Cỏc ngụi thứ khỏc ( you, we, they) chỳng ta dựng were.
 Ex. I was a farmer ten years ago.
 They were short last year.
 She was beautiful 5 years ago.
 It was cold yesterday. 
 b/ Thể phủ định: 	 Ex: I was not a farmer ten years ago.
 They were not short last year.
S + was not ( wasn't)
S + were not ( weren't)
 She wasn't beautiful 5 years ago.
 It was not cold yesterday.
	 We weren't here yesterday.

 c/ Thể nghi vấn:
 Ex: 
 Was she a teacher 10 years ago? – Yes, she was. ( No, she wasn't.)
 Were you at home yesterday? - Yes, I was. ( No, I wasn't.)

 What did you buy last night? – I bought some food and drink.
 II/ Đối với động từ thường:
 Khi chuyển qua phủ định và nghi vấn chỳng ta phải cần đến sự trợ giỳp của trợ động từ to do.
 ọChỳ ý: Động từ thường khi chuyển sang quỏ khứ cú hai loại: quy tắc và bất quy tắc,
 a/ Động từ quy tắc: Khi chuyển sang quỏ khứ ta thờm ED
 Ex. to play 	played, to need	 needed, to arrive arrived, ....
 ọCỏch đọc ED: Động từ thường khi chuyển sang quỏ khứ thờm ED và cú 3 cỏch đọc:
 1/ Đọc là /id/: cỏc động từ cú tận cựng là cỏc õm: t, d 
 Ex: to want – wanted , to need – needed , to collect – collected, to end – ended ,....
 2/ Đọc là /t/ : cỏc động từ cú tận cựng là cỏc õm: ce, sh, k, f, ph, x, ss, p, ch, gh
 Ex: to look – looked, to wash-washed, to produce – produced, to miss- missed
 to watch – watched, to laugh- laughed, to mix – mixed, to camp- camped
 3/ Đọc là /d/ : đối với cỏc động từ khụng ở hai trường hợp trờn.
 b/ Động từ bất quy tắc: Khi chuyển sang quỏ khứ ta tỡm thấy ở cột thứ hai trong bảng động từ bất quy tắc. 
 Ex. to go went, to buy bought , ...... 
ọCấu trỳc: 
 S + V- ED
 a/ Thể khẳng định: 
	 (Verb: động từ)
 Ex. I played soccer with my friends yesterday.
 Liz returned to Ha Noi last week
 The Robinson family went to the aquarium on the vacation. (go 	 went)
	( The Robinsons = The Robinson family= gia đỡnh Robinson) 
 Mrs Mai bought the material and made the dress for me 3 days ago.

 b/ Thể phủ định: Đối với ĐT thường phải dựng trợ động từ to do dạng quỏ khứ là

It is very important to have healthy teeth . Good teeth help us to chew our food . They also help us to look nice.
 How can we keep our teeth healthy ? First, we ought to visit our dentist twice a year . He can fill the small cavities in our teeth . Second , we should brush our teeth with a toothbrush and toothpaste . Third, we should eat food that is good for our teeth and our body : milk , cheese , fish, brown bread, potatoes, red rice, raw vegetables , and fresh fruit. Chocolate, sweets, biscuits, and cakes are bad, especially when we eat them between meals.
