TEACHING GRAMMAR
I. Aim:Focus on teaching the second condition
I / Objectives :
 By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to use the second conditional sentences
II/ Language contents :
1. Grammar:	If clause	main clause
	Simple past	would + V bare-infinitive
III/ Teaching aids : pictures ; board ; chalks
IV/ Procedures :
Teacher and student’s activities
Contents
1. Warm up :
- Teacher (T) shows some pictures to students 
- T explains about the situation which she will tell with students.
2. Presentation &3. Practice:
- T takes picture by picture and makes full model sentences involved grammar structure and asks the whole class to repeat.
T : If he was rich, he would buy a car.
Sts: Repeat 
Next, T asks one by one to repeat her sentence individually.
E Another example :
T gives 2 pictures’ for students’ further practice.
After that, T makes concept check about “ the second conditional sentence”
+ T : if I were rich, I would buy ( she shows pictures out: a house or an airplane)
+ Sts: If I were rich, I would buy a house.
 If I were rich, I would buy an airplane.
Next, T asks “ what would you do if you were rich ?” to guide Sts to answer T’s question
T takes some pictures and gives each picture to students individually and practice
T models one sentence with the first student. Then, that student will follow that model to ask his/her friend. Students look at their pictures to give answers correctly meaning and form “ the second condition”
Next, T gives another example by showing pictures (negative meaning).
T uses the same pictures, takes a pen to cross out the pictures to make negative sentences:
 + If she were rich, she would not buy a car.
 + If she were rich, she wouldn’t buy a house.
When students are able to make negative form of structure. Once again, T asks students to repeat 3 sentences in different forms : affirmative, negative, and questions
T writes down 3 sentences on the board and makes the full structure.
Then, T explains functions of the structure.
4. Production :
E Control practice
T asks students to work in groups. Then, T gives each group card.
T asks students to rearrange cards (questions and answers).
E Freer practice
T asks students to question each other by guiding questions:
What would you do if you won lottery?
E freer practice
T gives some situations on the cards for students to discuss:
T asks student by student to write down their own answers on the papers.
Then, they compare with their-group mates by discussing their answers
5. Homework :

+ prepare unit 2

Ex1: If he were rich, he would buy
 a car

Ex2: If she were rich, she wouldn’t

Ex3: what would you do if you were
rich?

-> would+ S+ V bare / simple past

Cry / I / a / lot / would.
You/ what/ do / would / if/ one/your girlfriend / day/ said/ goodbye?

What / you / would / do / you/ if / got / scholarship?
Would / I / not / sleep.
What would you do if your girlfriend wanted to buy an expensive gift but it was too expensive for you to buy?
What would you do if you saw your boyfriend’ diary opened?
What would you do if one day you had to make one decision but it was too hard for you decision?
What would you do if one day your close friend said that he/ she loved you?
